Hi, I'm Gavin

Post by Gavin »

Hi folks, just saying hello. I'm Gavin, a UK-based education academic and a speaker at this year's conference. I've played WFRP since about 1989, leading on to Fantasy Battle and Rogue Trader/40k 1st ed! Had a few years out, but carried on building and painting minis.

I've been lurking in Warhammer stores and absorbing lore for a few years now and returning seriously as an Age of Sigmar player over the past year (and dad of an 11 year-old fellow Warhammer obsessive). Currently play AOS weekly. Painting and kitbashing are a big part of my hobby life.

I'm based at Edge Hill University in Lancashire, lecturing in teacher education, but my research interests include play-based learning and civics, particularly the civics of education. My Warhammer academic interests are in the functions of community, masculinities, mentoring and peer learning and the value for mental health and wellbeing.

Hope to connect with people!

all the best
