‘I was there,’ he would say afterwards, until afterwards became a time quite devoid of laughter. ‘I was there, the day Mike and Thomas called to Heidelberg’ It was a delicious conceit, and his comrades would chuckle at the sheer treason of it.

Hi, I am Markus Ressel and I am the resident Chaos Cultist of the Warhammer Conference.

My academic fields are Philosophy and Religious sciences, and in my studies I mainy focus on Ethics, Phenomenology, as well as Sects and Cults and Religious Symbolism and Iconography.
My university days are long gone, but I still hold a fascination for the topics and their resonance in the 40k Verse, especially regarding the Gods and Cults of Chaos.

After University I became a stone sculptor and earned my masters degree in 2022. Now I work in community arts and social culture projects in and around Hannover, Germany, shifting my focus more and more towards analog gaming, game development for Kids, as well as Model Painting and Pen and Paper to teach resilience, focus, and self-esteem.

I am also Head and C.E.O. of the 3TH Table Top Treff Hannover e.V., a bread spectrum Game club with more than 260 Members. Since this year it is also my part time job to organize events, expand the clubs capability to support youth development and manage the daily buisness of the club.

I own about 7k Points of Death Guard, roughly 5k Points of Emperors Children and newly Acquired Iron Warriors that I will mix with some Dark Mech Kitbashing of already about 3,5 k. I mostly play narrative Games and campaigns these days, and also DM a PnP Black Crusade Campaign.

I have had 2 talks already, hoping to complete the Trilogy this year:

Are We the Baddies? The Ethical Implications of the Imperium’s War with Chaos

The Gaze of the Gods: Chaos, Symbolism, and Humanity’s Reflections

I am looking forward to this years conference, where I am also very proud to be helping in the organisation of the Painting and Mental Health Workshop on Saturday.

This community has helped me in many ways to find a different approach into a hobby that has helped my greatly in my life. I am blessed to be part of it and proud to be able to participate, and I cherish all the friends I made along the way and look forward to many more.
